More about the Forum
This unique session is designed specifically for children who stutter, offering a space where they can connect, share, and grow.
Children will have the opportunity to engage in meaningful conversations with peers who understand their struggles, providing a safe and empathetic environment.
The session aims to empower participants by allowing them to explore the challenges they face in day-to-day life, both socially and emotionally. With professional guidance from Farah and Elsa, children will learn practical tools and techniques to manage stuttering, build self-confidence, and embrace their unique voices.
The Connection Circle will highlight three main elements:
My Pace – Focuses on each child's individual journey and unique experiences with stuttering. It encourages open discussions about the various options available for stuttering management, offering insight into the scientific evidence supporting each approach. By exploring these options, children are empowered to make informed decisions about how best to manage their stuttering, considering their specific needs.
My Voice – Highlights each child's individual communicative experience, recognizing that communication is much more than stuttering. It emphasizes the process of discovering and embracing their unique voice, independent of any challenges they may face with stuttering. The child plays a central role in shaping how they express themselves, with their environment and family offering vital support. This approach helps the child build confidence and realize that their voice is valuable, allowing them to communicate authentically and effectively, beyond the presence of stuttering.
My Story – Encourages children to share their personal experiences, reinforcing the importance of their stories in shaping confidence and self-awareness. By expressing their journey, they gain insight into their own strengths and challenges, fostering desensitization, self-disclosure and self-determination. This process empowers children to take ownership of their communication experiences, helping them realize the value of their voice in their personal growth and interactions.
